A Lesson in Love

It’s just like the enemy to turn a positive into a negative. He was able to make Eve focus on the only tree she was not supposed to eat from instead of all of the fruit she could partake in. We were no different. Instead of just celebrating the moment of my sister’s engagement. I focused on the fact that my father wasn’t there.

Love like God

Today, I wanted to talk about the first and honestly the most important concept in the Bible: Love. The Bible is a love story. A story of love at first sight. Often, when we hear love, we think primarily of romantic love, but the first love most experience comes from their parents. God’s love isContinueContinue reading “Love like God”

Everything’s Magnificent’s Core Philosophies

Everything needs a focus. I’ve been writing on Everything’s Magnificent for a long time and just starting to get an idea of what I want it to become. Hence, the creation of the four core guiding philosophies of Everything’s Magnificent or the Pillars of Light, as I like to call them. 1. Love Love isContinueContinue reading “Everything’s Magnificent’s Core Philosophies”

Managing Trauma for the Kids (Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day)

I remember going to make pottery or being a “body-guard” for my grandmother during events when I was little. I thought the nerve of these events to not have any snacks, coloring books, or TV to watch. Why would anyone come to an event without food? To this day, I’m still not sure why. InContinueContinue reading “Managing Trauma for the Kids (Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day)”

Daniel Caesar – Freudian (Album Review)

A few months ago, I wrote a piece for Vibe Fridays: Daniel Caesar – Get You. In it I talked about Daniel Caesar, a relatively unknown from Toronto with buttery smooth vocals, church background, and soulful lyrics about love and life. Today I’ll talk about his debut album, Freudian. Let me say this clearly. Daniel CaesarContinueContinue reading “Daniel Caesar – Freudian (Album Review)”

In God I Trust

The past year has been a tough one for me. I’ve had highs and lows that have sculpted me into a man who I would not have recognized months before. I did one of the best things in my life and possibly one of the most dangerous: I asked God for something. *gasps* I knowContinueContinue reading “In God I Trust”

A Peace Prayer

Hey Papa! I just wanted to reach out to you again asking for your mercy, grace, and blessings. I’ve talked to so many of my brothers and sisters in Christ and I’ve felt their pain. I’ve heard their struggles, and as the world gets darker, I’ve seen them start to lose hope. With that understanding,ContinueContinue reading “A Peace Prayer”

A Simple Prayer

I pray that every person reading this has peace in their heart. May an all-encompassing stillness fall on them to ease their nerves and pain. My love abolish hate and fear. May calm settle their souls. May November bless each and everyone of you with prosperity, wisdom, strength, growth, and much more. God Bless! TurnContinueContinue reading “A Simple Prayer”

Kenneka, Domestic Abuse, and Forgotten Black Women

I’m just writing this because it has been sitting on my heart. I’ve been reading over the past few days about Kenneka Jenkins and her death (Link at the Bottom). The saddest part about this story is that it is not surprising or new the details to culminated in her death. To avoid posting graphicContinueContinue reading “Kenneka, Domestic Abuse, and Forgotten Black Women”
